Major Sixth Chords

Formula (R, 3, 5, 6)

Major sixth chords are formed with the root, major third, perfect fifth and major sixth. Using the CAGED system, on the next page are five moveable shapes that allow you to play the same major sixth chord all over the fretboard.

The major scale (Ionian mode) and major pentatonic sound great over these chords for improvisation.

Minor Sixth Chords
